Numberplates - where to buy?

Right, I want a new plate for my bike but I want a smaller one (my choice please don't give me grief)...

I'm struggling to find somewhere that actually makes something I'd happily fit to my bike...

Those "flexi-plates" are just pure rubbish, a few mates have them and they are awful!

I am not going much smaller but with my tail tidy I'm fitting I cannot mount a standard plate without it either fowling the exhaust or being off centre.

Anyone know of a place that can make me one?

I've had a few different size plates made the quite common smaller size (think its 8x6) something like that anyway and also a letter box style (9x3) I've always used eBay for mine... Just type in motorcycle show plates and they're cheap as anything usually 6-10 pound and so far mine have all been good, rigid, well made and well printed plates.

Oh and most of them allow you to have borders and slogans on the plates too, I've had them on most of my plates too.

some mates got plates off ebay (some flexi-plates some normal) and they have all been crap however they got the cheapest...

I just received one today off ebay which was £12.99 (can get some for £6 delivered)

The font slopes down and is 2.5mm lower on the right hand side to the left
None of the corners are cut the same (all curves are different)
All the edges are poorly cut (clearly did by hand or cheap machine)
Was listed as bevelled edges and isn't
requested a "slogan" which they forgot
and its adhered poorly so will probably last a few months at best

I had a couple done a few years ago, from an ebay seller. They were decent quality to. It was a slightly smaller plate but far from silly and didn't exactly scream out to the police "look at my number plate" but was just neater. I can't remember who the seller was now but they say it's for "Display Purposes only". I think they were based in Jersey. Worth searching the pages...

I bought that one. Amazing quality and arrived within 24 hours. Was cheap too.

give Jane Bray a call. she is based in Teignmouth, does a very good job, is very well priced and the turn around is quick, she does all manner of 'show plates'.

I've always used Design a Cover: http://www.design-a-cover.com/Number_Plates.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;"

Probably not the cheapest but always understands your requirements and the plates are good quality.

Bought some cheap ones for the car recently from EBay & they are coming apart already.

Flexi plates are good for off road bikes but I wouldnt run one on a road bike.

Locally, not sure if Aligator Signs at Edgecumbe (Helston/Penryn Road) still make show plates.

An extravagant option would be to buy a cheap private plate with 1 or 2 numbers and trim down a standard plate (I might just know where such a plate may be for sale  )
