I was thinking that I'm probably not going to ride the GSXR in Jan-March next year on the basis that Suzuki+salt=junk really quickly...
If you SORN a bike, can you set a start date or does it just do it from the date you do it online?
i.e. can I SORN it now, to start in Jan?
Or if I SORN it now, do I get any of Decembers tax back?

I reckon SORN will start from the day you do it. And you'll only ever get back any full months that are left to run on your VED. Right pain in the backside having to tax / untax all the time, easier to keep it all running for how much it costs IMO.

Yeah think I'm not going to bother. Seems like too much hassle.
Maybe when tax discs are scrapped, they'll make it easy and do it day by day.
Thanks

You're probably up and running now anyway but I have just SORN mine until I'm fully repaired and can turn my head without the crunching going on...
But I found it a very simple exercise. The correct form, your Post office will know, v14 I think it was... Fill it out, tax disc taped to it and hey presto, the remaining road fund paid back to you in complete months worth.
Has to be worth doing surely otherwise it's like throwing money in the bin, even if it is £10 or so owing. You wouldn't leave it on the ground for the next guy to pick up off the pavement.
