To nodd or not to nodd?

Post by 5Litres »

Has any one noticed not as meny of our fellow brothers (and sisters) nod these days?

I seem to remember years ago every body did to each other no matter what size bike you had andknow I'm left feeling like an idiot when I nod to a fellow warrior of two wheels only to be ignored?!

Or is it just me?? :-?

Will think a lot of 'new' bikers don't even know about the nod tradition.

I generally nod to all, even the ones you know won't return the acknowledgment. Harley's, goldwings etc don't bother as you aren't in their collective.

I find more youngsters nod these days, I know when I was starting out riding when a big bike rider returned a nod it felt like I had been accepted into the tradition.

Here in France, we drop the left hand off the bar and give a 'V' sign.
If you don't ask, you don't get !

Don't they stick their leg out too in france when over taking to say Thankyou and/or to say Hi and not have to take the hand off the throttle?

I always nod to everyone on two wheels, even scooter kids in hoodys, tracky's and no gloves ;) ! I hope it makes a few of them consider staying with two wheels, even if I know most of them will end up in lowered Nova's etc.

I have to admit I do find that the newly converted 'Adventure bike' masses do seem to be the worst for returning nods or even acknowledging other bikers! No offence to any on this site who ride an adventure type bike by the way ;) , I know its not all of you but I have noticed a trend. L-)

I'll wave usually...

Unless there on a BMW GS...

If they are on a C90 I may point and wave excessively... Just because I have a soft spot for Honda Cubs...

no no Badger, I only like to put them up YOUR bum. But you're so small and my fingers so long, I can tickle your tonsils.

I think I have said before I will only nod to those wearing what I deem enough gear (gloves, helmet, jacket and trousers) and always make sure I nod to moped riders (in gear) as they are the future.
