Hey all, I know there are a few people on her which are looking at purchasing track bikes for the coming year,
Just wondering what people are riding and why to try and help us make decisions easier.

I know that its personal preferance but would like to know pros and cons really,

What I would like to know is ridability, competitiveness, ease of maintenance, spares availability and price.
Modifications and reliability.

Any help would be appreachiated

You can rule out Ducati's straight away.

Spares wise, ebay is your friend. So most popular models should have good supply.

Don't worry too much about the bike being competitive. Its mainly down to you and confidence on the bike
(unless it has been messed around with).

Saying that, 4 cylinder 600, 750 or 1000's are a good bet and anything with an R in the name.

for what its worth a 600 or 750 is the way to go if you get a thou it will eat back tyres I have a
750 gixer and I get about 5 days from a rear if you have a thou about 2 days 3 if your lucky also
youl find that a 6 or750 is a lot easier to ride they are less intimidating on track and not so likely
to highside you don't go for a thou if you think you can handell it be sure

Bumping tbis up now im in a position to find a new bike,
Want it with a v5, spare wheels would be a bonus but not nessasary.

Was looking at the 2007 zx6rs-r6-cbr6 kinda thing to make is useable,
A thou would be nice but recon I might do myself into mischief.

That's a bit better, at least we now have some idea of what sort of bike and model year you're looking for (your first post basically covered everything, with an infinite price range, not very helpful).

There aren't really any bad bikes nowadays, so it comes down to what you prefer. Maybe you could look for second hand examples at dealers and test ride one of each so you know what you find comfortable and easier to use, then base your track bike search on that. Motoforum.net is as good a place as any to find a track bike, it's free to register, just don't rush into buying anything, remember: buy in haste, repent at leisure.

The racing season is coming to an end shortly and there will be a number of race bikes advertised as the owners look to use something else next year - these will be track-ready and may come with everything you want (except perhaps a V5). If you're not confident in picking a peach from a basket of lemons, best take someone with you who knows what to look for.

Always seem to have gelled with kawasakis more than any other manufacturer,

What I would like would be a 2009 zx6r, (newish shape) but there too much money atm,
I have logged onto track day riders to see whats floating about and always watching
copart also for salvage/damaged repairables.

I know I will have to keep some money back for brake lines suspension setup and some decent rubber also,
So dont want to blow the whole budget on the bike.

If I was in the market for a new trackbike, I'd be seriously considering a gixxer 750.
You need to throw some money at the suspension and brakes, but they're a great option.
More than fast enough for a good rider, and easy to ride for a novice.
