weak mixture

I have just replaced the sparking plugs on my Yamaha Virago 535 and noticed they are very white, I seem to have to ride with the choke partly closed so I suppose the jets must be restricted.

I have bought some carb and choke cleaner to spray in the intake but guess I will probably end up stripping the carbs and cleaning the jets, It has been suggested to use several things to such as, vinegar, soda, cilit bang, WD40 or run a fine wire through them.

Has anyone had to do this to their bike and what did you use ?

I would take it to tivertonMotorcycles and get jam to get the unit dunked into the ultrasonic tank.

Check your mixture first though, make sure you have checked your fuel/air screw setting first though.

Thanks for the rely, I have tried the carb/choke cleaner and that seems to have cured it.
There appears to be no mixture screw on carbs or shown in manual, must be pre-set in manufacture.
I have looked at the website for Tiverton motorcycle and if it plays up again I will contact them.

Cheers Mandolin

Don't know that model in particular but generically, it could be vacuum pipes blocked or advance / retard springs / mechanism sticking.
....If you have them of course....
