Classed as new rider!

Post by Bullet »

Well his year been a busy year for me so thought I would treat myself to an early Christmas present
Spent days looking and found 2 perfect bikes. Spoke to showroom as I wanted the extra that was on one put on the other as it had kawasaki winter colours spray job by dream machine. Got everything sorted ready to fork out the deposit when I thought I would get insurance quotes. Turns out I'm almost uninsurable! Couldn't get any insurance company to quote. Managed to get carol Nash from 950 down to 750! Finally had a bit of good news from my existing company I have all my vehicles with who explained that as I've been on track forn4 years there is no audit trail so I'm classed as a new rider! They managed to get a 2 year introduction offer but still £630 for the years insurance. The fact I've never crashed in the 30 years I've been riding or claimed don't mean didn't shit! So guess I got to weigh up the amount of times I will use it if it's worth the insurance costs!

Depends what your planning on insuring matters quite a lot also there. Is it quite a desirable bike ie high insurance group??

Ah the zx10r that's always cheap to insure :)):

Thing is with most insurance companies they only hold information on your no claims bonus for up to 6 months however some companies can keep it up to 2 years.

my zx10r cost me £298 fully comp with 4 years no claims but they stuck on a £650 excess. you can never beat them and every year it goes up and up :((

good luck with your purchase :)):

Rough justice.
I was worried re insurance when I got back on a bike after 35 yrs. Was only a CB 500 but I got fully comp for £90.
Happy as Larry.

MCE refused to insure. It's probably down to the cost of the bike and what it is.

Suppose if I buy an R1 I wouldn't have a problem due to its lack of power :D =)) :)) O:-)

Is it you that's uninsurable, or the modifications to the bike?
Try and get a quote for a stock bike, even with no no claims I expect it will be half.

Try Bikesure, they actually bikers who insure bikers. tell them all your history and see what they can do for you. Got me a great deal, a lot less than I was previously paying.
