Lap Times for Oulton Park

Hi All

Went to Oulton Park on Friday (17.08.18) and was in the Inters group. As I tend to do I record every session so that I can play it back and see how I got on after the day. One of the things it also allows me to do is to get a feel for lap times and if I am improving.

This was my 2nd time at Oulton having done novice earlier in the year (and managing a best time of 2:10 with an average of 2:15) I now went back in Inters to see how on go on. Again on the same bike a small boys GSXR 750 L5.

The day went well with very few people coming past me but what did surprise me was the ones that did and then disappeared in front of me were all 600s  tad embarrassing but hey there is always somebody faster then you unless you ride in the Moto GP paddock

Now going through the vids i am very happy that i seemed to have knocked 10 seconds off my lap times with a best of 2:00 flat and an average of 2:05.

My question is what to do from here...........

Is this time, inters group times? As it felt like i was the top end of inters
Is it time to try and move up to fast group? will I be at the back of the pack (in the way) or is this a respectable enough pace to have a go?
Also It has been a while since i got some tuition to try and improve what have people done recently?
What has made a real difference on track to move you forward?
Class room stuff?
Expensive lessons?
or the no limits instructors doing a i will follow you then you follow me?

Welcome feedback and ideas :-bd

I wouldn't mind chasing you round Oulton to see how far off of the times it is.

Oulton looks like a nice track, must try and punt my old bones around there one day.

Do 1-2-1, basically book Matt.
Fast at Oulton is fast, quick lads are sub 1.45’s, I’m not going anywhere near fast till I’m way under 2 mins šŸ˜„
Rob - have a go on the 650, if you can do quick on a 650, the 600 and 750 will be easier to go quick on if you get what I mean.

Edit - I know I raced there the other week but we have the blue flag

Blue flag is caution faster rider approaching from behind.

1:52.4 on a 1993 750

Fantastic track. Like to think of it as what you would get if you mix Donington and Cadwell together.

First time at Oulton I hated it. Didn't know where I was going and every time I was a little quicker on one corner it would mess up the next 3 and would have to re learn those.

I managed a 2.02 and desperately wanted to hit a 2.00. There's always a mix of riders in inters, some really quick (fast must have been full) and some slow riders (I have a 1000 so I'm automatically inters).

I wouldn't think about fast until I was sub 2 consistently and nailed those lines.
