First test ride booked for this Saturday on a S1000R. Reviews are pretty good so looking forward to how it rides

Cracking bikes and a good choice.
I know rik had one and chr1s and I have spoke about them previously.

One has a zuperduke and the other a mt-10,
Take that as you will.

Would definitely advise taking a speed triple out.
(All dep3nds on what your budget is also)

You seriously need to get in contact with Rik. He had a S1000R that he used on track and road. He still owns a Superduke 990. He has taken a new (ish) Aprila Touno on track before and has also had many rides on a Triumph speed triple.

That fact that he still owns a Superduke and a Benelli probably answers the question for you though.

Check out { https://youtu.be/4gHW_z4Dv-Y } from 6:55 onwards
I manage to follow Rik on his S1000R for a lap (as he is held up in traffic I am not that good) on a Gixxer 600 K1
As you can see it handles well on track but I remember him not loving the electronic suspension for track riding.

Just dropped him a message. That track day looked like a lot of fun. Budget is around 7 so just basing that on what's available and obtainable.
Coming from a K3 1000 so any electronics on a bike will be new to me.

No suspension adjustment as it's electronic and reactive

Lots of technology I didn't even know existed on bikes!

Depends on age as I think the early ones or base spec do still have manual adjustment suspension.
The ones with electric suspension are good but I know a few "progressive" riders which prefer the linear moment of standard suspension.

Would be worth a trip down to sit on a couple others.

Riks had electronic and mentioned that it reacted how the manufacturers wanted it to and not how he did. I think he wanted a set of oldie stylee forks.

Seems like it might be a good thing I can only afford to ride old analogue bikes :-?

The sport version of the s1000r has DDC (dynamic damping control) automatically adjusts to your riding.
