We did, had a good run on largely empty roads.

Saw a load of Porsches racing on the bickleigh road, looked and sounded like they were having fun. Other than that it was a twisty old route and a good, steady pace.
Even with a coffee at the end I was still home by 845.

Also, check your manual, see what revs the charging circuit kicks in at. My old r1 used to sit at 14.7 but only once I was at 5000. Some of the early triumphs were known for having electrical drains via their Factory alarm systems too. Like phil said, make sure you have a battery with the right cran...
