Upping the hazard anticipation and riding accordingly minimised the risk. You can actually stop quite quickly with just the rear brake. I did have the back up of the front brake working again if I needed it. I assume 750+ miles riding in rain last week must have got enough crud in by the pistons of ...

Home okay after my right front caliper problem. Soon got used to only using the back brake, surprising how efficient stopping is with just the back. Front was working after it cooled down but I wanted to prove a point. Dazzer must follow me on the next ride to see rear only braking

A possibility is poor earth connection. There should be virtually no resistance between battery earth terminal, frame and engine. That engine earth lead is as important as the power side connections.

Epic trip. When I stopped at the Cat & Fiddle - elevation 1689ft 515metres - 40+mph winds and raindrops the size of your head. A tad more comfy overlooking Ladybower reservoir. Winnats pass,just outside Castleton highly recommended.
