Re: GCMG
Back wheels do get really black. Years ago, I used to have a casual job doing tyres at things where people took their bikes down drag strips and my lovely job was to take the wheels on and off.

Thanks Mervin ! I will double check but I have been for a good 6 hours riding since I fitted the cable so I fear it is the clutch itself....

Oh joy ! Now its the clutch slipping.
The latest bulletin to amuse you from Hodgeheg Towers.... The joy of ageing Zs. Went to ride off tonight and Mr Clutch he did not engage hardly at all. Got to the end of the road and had to come back with it slipping like mad. May try and nurse it to Gillingham tomorrow but where I live it is a stee...

Re: Wheee first long run !

Am happy to report no real problems and a terrific run back in the sunshine (despite the Stonehenge jam - more fool me for not doing the Larkhill shuffle !)

Re: Tyre repair or replace?
I'd agree with MellowYellow. You don't want to find out the hard way that the repair wasn't a success. If in at an angle there may be potential for a split. Not worth the risk just to save a few quid.
