Re: Possible long ride east Sat 25th July
Phil - thanks for the heads up, but my license is already peppered with points so I only "enjoy" the roads when I'm off the beaten track 👍 Rough plan atm is on and off the A35 to Dorchester, then some sneaky back roads that'll leave your stomach behind, then the main A road towards Salisbu...

Re: Possible long ride east Sat 25th July
What day are you thinking of trying out the roads this way Andy?? I'm doing them in the van as I have to get to Dorset police HQ in Winfrith and Wilts HQ in Melksham. There's various ways of going and I'm trying to get a mix of roads to get a move on and gnarly back lanes that nobody uses. Once I'v...

Possible long ride east Sat 25th July
As I spend a lot of time driving through Dorset and Wiltshire I'm thinking of doing a ride incorporating some of the good roads up that way as an alternative to the usual areas. Probably leave Exeter Sowton area 9am. Coffee stop near Bovington Tank museum, lunch probably Moto Corsa in Gillingham (or...

Re: Brekky on the Blackdowns - Sunday 12th July. UPDATE
Thanks for that, Phil. Cheers to everyone that braved the cold and made it out. Was nice not to need my heated grips today. Will defo be organising something in the next few weeks, probably going east of Exeter. Maybe a full day on a weekend or more likely an evening ride, as after the rush hour the...

If England win tonight I'll probably not be in a fit state.

Re: Seaton Bike nights 2026
Rode up that way with some mates for a fish and chip run and it was 32C at 7.30pm in Chard. Plus tons of flies around, and several road closures meant some questionable detours

Get yourself registered on the Tiger 800 forum, post your problem on there and wait for the help from various experts. My good friend T800XC works with TuneECU and Tiger Tool, and is a diagnostic whizz. Rewired my 45 year old Suzuki but specialises in Triumphs

Taunton Flyer Sun 26th - tomorrow
Just a heads up for anyone venturing out tomorrow. There's a big cycle race starting and ending at Dunkeswell - my neighbour is supplying the cakes etc and reckons it'll be well attended, so roads around the Blackdown Hills will be alive with the lycra brigade.

Re: Sunday Classic bike ride out
Well, there were 20 bikes in all, everything from a 50's BSA to a new Hornet, and plenty of nice bikes in between. Making progress isn't something the rider on the 350 Royal Enfield was up for, but apart from him it was a decent pace. Mind you, the ride back to Torquay from Minehead when I realised ...

Sunday Classic bike ride out
Probably not for anyone on here, but there's a ride out on the 19th (Sunday) from Exeter Quay at 10am. Meeting members of the VMCC at Jones's in Winkleigh at 11am, and going up to Lynton and Lynmouth, valley of the rocks etc. Most will be on modern ish bikes but I can't see any of them trying to get...

Re: Petrol
I have a Shell fuel card due to the insane mileage I cover in the various modes of transport. Normally I get a rate even better than Trago Shell station - last week £1.31 for diesel. Got the update on Fri as usual for the forthcoming week.... £1.62 per litre. 31p jump in a day, way dearer than norma...

Re: rain?
Dorset has had it even worse than Devon I think.
Parts of the A35 near Bridport was like driving up a river, and a village near Dorchester was impassible as the road was submerged and bow waves from vehicles was flooding the neighboring houses
