My old R6 failed to run when hot... piston rings were buggered meaning lack of compression. Might be worth doing a check

Ahhhh, don't really know of anyone in Liskeard area, too far north for me to have had any dealings with mechanics. Monkey may have a better idea, or possibly Graham as he seems to know everyone in bikes south of the Tamar ;)

I'll nudge them both towards this thread for you :D ...

it would help if you registered here - www.yamahaR1.co.uk

these guys are really helpfull, they do have an R6 section aswell as perming, blowdry and dying.

other than that, get hold of a haynes manual and a workshop manual that way you can see where cables and pipes are supposed to be and see how they match up.
check the spark plugs

when you switch the bike off, use the kill switch. turn ignition off, turn it back on, flick kill switch - do you hear a clicking ? the fuel pump. is this working ?
might be a rubber from the carb lose or something. sounds like you need to get under the tank and have a root around i'm afraid.

If you still want garages, I'v got JP Motorworks in Luxulyan ( suggested by Deej) and Liskeard Motorcycles, that was from Monkey who said he's got details and will post when he finds them :D
