oil level check

Post by banditman »

Just bought my son a YZF 125 somebody told it me only holds 700ml of oil in engine,cos it holds so little u have to really keep an eye on the level or blow engine.
My stupid question is when u check oil obviously with bike upright u take dipstick out and wipe it off do u screw it in and take it out to check level or just put it in to threads then take out
Says on internet not to screw it in which would make level a lot higher?
Any ideas?

Convention with most other bikes is to just rest it back on top, not to screw back in ...... but as said, RTFM :wink:

In my triumph haynes manual it says to screw it back in. Personally I never checked before, I just thought to screw it in anyway.

Had a R125 & CBF125 when returned to biking 3 years ago.

DO NOT screw the dipstick back in.

If in doubt here is a link for the manual;

Although only 3 years have passed, it seems a long time ago that I was re-training on these;

They were enjoyable and good to practice on, but it is nice to move on.
