Didnt Know this!!

Post by Bullet »

Well ive been searching for my paper counterpart of my driving licence but cant find it so got the paper work today from post opffice for new and then noticed its no loger legal or needed as a free serive to check for endorsements in now available!!

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/driv ... ce-changes

Not sure how that works at track days any more as not been on any since this law came in but it seems only the photo card is now legal and you can now log in, gain a pass code and give that to a potential employer etc so they can chek themselves!!

Never "upgraded" to the plastic and paper counterpart. Religiously hanging onto my old paper parchment until they force me to get rid of it. :)):

All new, no need for track days as they only require the plastic parts as it shows you can ride a motorcycle and a form of photo identification.

All vehicle companies can now apply for a code which will allow them to look at your driving history for up to 72 hours before they have to obtain another code.

Interesting that people seem to want to hang on to old paper licences , they wil have to change eventually , i had mine done because the HGV has to be renewed every 5 years after age 40 ,
and TBH i have found it a benefit more than once, you have a photgraphic ID piece on you ,

once when i went to Scotland and then was in Poole discovering my passport was ay home in Devon , the authorities just said do you have a photocard ID i produced the drving licence , and they let me carry on ,

as the paper licences willl no longer be updated you will not be exempt from the check system, one look at the date on your licence and any car hire firm etc are gonna want to check online to see if you are clear ,
