Do I really need Mirrors ?

Post by Belladonna »

Good Evening Boys and Girls,

I was wondering about the mirrors. Is it illegal riding without them ? I am always looking over my shoulder etc so I really don't use mirrors at all and my bike would look much better without them :D

Mirrors on a bike are not a legal requirement for MOT or Construction and Use reg's. You are wise to use the old lifesaver look over the shoulder. Personally, I don't bother looking behind as nothing is faster than me
old and disgraceful so doing what I can while I can before I can't

As above not needed legally,
But can be helpful at times (checking where police are)
Maybe just change where there angled so have to move your head a distance to look into them, (is this makes sence)

Thank you for reply guys. "Using the old lifesaver look" ? :-? Is there a new one ???

Yes, I do look because I love my bike as much I love my life therefore I care for both :ymblushing:

Yes, that makes sense. I saw one guy having them attach to handlebar :-\ Kinda strange but it didn't look so bad.
And I don't speed on public roads so I don't have worries about speed Police B-)

I didn't mean move the mirrors I just mean angle them low so have to duck to see in them,
(So if a car behind has bright lights it won't blind you as would just light up your shoulder or similar)

You don't need mirrors per se, try removing them and riding around for a day or two, especially if you're on a sports bike. You'll soon bolt them back on again....

There are plenty of aftermarket mirrors that can compliment a bikes look even enhance it. Some mirrors are a waste of time and in my case I can't remove as easily as indicators built in.
Personally I've never used them as I'm flat on the tank most of the time lol

Nice mirrors, are they off a Vespa?
It is always worth remembering that their has to be an element of challenge to a short cut, otherwise it would just be the way.

Mirrors are back on. It was just too much of looking behind 8-| It was a great experience but now I am sure I can't live without them as I do use them A LOT :D
