Forum rules
You are of course welcome along to any Southwestbikers rideout, however your bike must be in good mechanical order (we don’t want anything falling off of it including you), taxed and have a current MOT. You must have a valid motorcycle licence and current motor insurance. You are in charge of your motorcycle at all times and SWB will not accept any responsibility for actions you take or any accidents you may have. Always ride within your own capabilities and do not put others at risk. Remember, while you are on a Southwestbikers rideout you are representing the site and what it stands for.
Thank-you.

Don't forget......ANYONE can organise and run a rideout.

Anyone out this coming weekend?

Post by Jug »

Does anyone else actually miss the heatwave now it's gone?
I really hate being cooked by the sun but I kind of got use to it and modified my riding times to suit.

At least normal summer should be returning today/tomorrow and we can get back to enjoying the rides without dealing with the extreme heat.

So.. we've got a bank holiday weekend coming.. anyone out (or want to come out)?

Not this weekend for me Mr J, I've got a wedding gig on the Saturday and Sunday will be recovery time  .
The following Saturday (Sept' 3rd) I'm aiming to get to Grahams M/C's open day in Taunton with one of my grandsons on his second ever pillion ride, then do a pootle-style rideout with him after - don't want to scare him off bikes forever with one of SWB's 'progressive' runs  , he won't be up for that for a bit :)): .

Certainly takes the shine off having a new bike nowadays, being tied to dealers and all that.
With parts supply as it is now (and likely to be for a while yet), it certainly helps make the case for having two bikes.. or more.
No KTM jokes please...

Unfortunately its my own stupid fault. Went to the main dealer they had the parts on the shelf, was 30 minutes work to fix it and total bill was going to be less then £200. But like an idiot i took the quote and brought it back to the 3rd party insurance company in a hope they would agree to pay it...... Nope they wanted to collect the bike from me (£250) do their own quote (£70) store the bike whilst they confirmed liability (£50 per day) then complete the repairs based on there quote which increased from £200 to £1800 in parts and labor for them to replace items that I know were not damaged. basically this 3rd part company have a license to print money and piss people off with no repercussions. What a joke

Lesion learned never go to insurance companies unless you know the bike is a right off.

God... sorry to hear that Rob.

I have heard stories about how shady some insurance companies are.. waging 'claims wars' on each other through that sort of thing and also replacement courtesy vehicles that are actually high priced hire vehicles.
All in the aim of making a bigger claim.. but in the end it's us that pay for it as our policies rise to cover it.
