yup, if i were you i would only poke it with a stick if its a very long stick, and you can run pretty fast!! call the council - they have a pest control division that will come round and fumigate - i think they make one visit free of charge for some problems, but may charge for bigger jobs

just put your leathers on, duct tape up all the gaps then get a baseball bat/cricket bat/golf club or weapon of choice and start swinging.... that or phone pest control, the boring option.
