Thinking of joining the llandow track but just wondering will there be plenty of garage facilities for us all? Is it ok to bring someone with me to help with loading/unloading from the van etc? Not sure Ill bring the R1 unless I can get track day insurance I might get a cheap bike instead. Whats the track like is it smooth/bumpy looks quite short.

it's short, no garages, fun and smooth.

the track can more than deal with a 1000cc bike, even the fast group are only looking at about 120 down the back straight.

you can bring people wth you if you like.

ha ve a look in the llandow section on here to see how it runs, VERY relaxed day.

Nothing like a decent (Suzuki) blue bike and I agree that exhaust
I do really like the look of the new R1 and the aerodynamics they have done on the rear of the bike think they look really good. Not to mention the extensive electronic package with all the power modes and traction control it really is something special to look at, listen to and dial into for your riding style.

Very nice

Say what... Has it been resurfaced? Bump-wise it's only surpassed by Castle Combe :80: that said, it is a fun day out, very grippy (abrasive) surface, the only circuit where I got my knee down in the wet. It'll kill the right side of a rear tyre in a day, I found it best to fit a worn rear slick backwards and finish off the "other" side. No stability issues with reverse fitment, never got higher than 4th gear down either straight.
The garages are pretty pants, it must be said. Good cafe for brekkie, don't overdo lunch though or it'll be a fight against drowsiness in the afternoon.
Riding aside, the highlight of the day is chief marshal John's rider briefing, especially if there are any Supermoto riders present that day.

I didn't kill it, just maimed it considerably. If you recall, following its eventful but brief first visit in 2007, the same bike (well, most of it) returned for the next six SWB days at Llandow, including the memorable double date in 2012 when the track was unrideable on the Friday but they offered us a reduced price for the following day that had spaces, plus the rescheduled SWB day in August. With the bonus day in 2012 it actually did seven full days at the track. A Superstock-spec ZX-10R was a bit of a sledgehammer to crack the Llandow nut, but it was fun. Catch that bump right at the start of the home straight in 3rd gear and it could pull a monster wheelie halfway past the paddock. My mistake in 2007 was catching it on full throttle in 2nd... Cue sky-ground-sky-ground scenario resulting in lots of bruises, a wrecked helmet, damaged leathers and a £2k repair bill for the bike (damage list included 2 Dymag wheels, the rear being 3 laps old  )

Ouch......
That bump as you come onto the home straight has caught me a few times and certainly wakes you up when you suddenly find either the front of the rear doing something your were not expecting.

Yup, all my own work, with a little help from being a gear lower than prudent and a whole heap of horsepower. I obviously enjoyed it 'cos I came back for the next six years - though maybe the first return was to get it right...
