I'd bin it too, having been 'immobilised' in Lynmouth one afternoon after stuffing waterproofs under the seat of a VFR, disturbing an indicator connection which mean't the alarm wouldn't dis-arm because it couldn't flash the indicator (safeguard I guess as early alarms could be by-passed by removing an indicator bulb).
Whilst it might have been an insurance benefit/requirement whent new, it's unlikely to have an effect 14 years down the line.
I removed mine myself, just took some time, checking where the wires went & ensuring any of the bike's own wires were reconnected if they went 'through' the alarm.

Ahh man, I'm getting fairly sick of my veto evo too.
I've been trying to do some simple jobs replacing brake pads etc but having to leave the ignition on so that the alarm doesn't go off...forgetting I left the hot grips on....off comes the side fairings and seat to get to the dead battery.
I reckon it will be less faff to remove it in the long run.
Did you sort your issues out with it gas head? well done on the test!

Have left it alone. Seems to be working okay so will continue to leave it alone. Over the moon to be on the road with the fzs600. Thanks

Put it in service mode if you want to work on / clean bike.

Thanks for the tip about service mode, didn't realise it had such a thing.
I reckon I will get rid of it though

I've had one on my last two bikes and (fingers crossed) had no probs.
As with many other things, excellent when they're working and a ******* nightmare when they play up.
Saves a few quid on the insurance as well.

If you're removing it you don't need the diagram. Just following the wires. If they piggy-back a wire, just de-solder & make good. The four wires that go to the two cut wires of the main loom will be in the OE colours still, so de-solder the joints and re-solder the appropriate original wire ends back together.
Place old alarm in trash can
Job done
