Catherine, at the Neuadd, has been away. She's back at the hotel from Sat 25/07. If you haven't already done so please ring her to update your booking.

We were due to spend a week in Wales on the bikes mid-late August and were really looking forward to it. Despite Wales gradually re-opening we'd heard stories that the locals were understandably protective of their COVID-free communities and reacted with hostility to potentially contaminated outsiders undoing all their efforts to remain disease-free. After reading reports of shops and pubs declining to accommodate visitors, and bikers being pelted with eggs in one instance, we reluctantly decided to cancel.
I'm not suggesting that you also cancel, but be aware that there might not be the welcome in the hillsides that you were expecting.

Just like here in relatively Covid free SW peninsula. Lots of locals, self included, concerned about loads of visitors; and like the vast majority of the Welsh residents not about to start WW3 over it. For every rabid person acting "inhospitably" who makes the news there are likely to be a great deal more who are "reasonable". IMHO as long as we show consideration and act responsibly at the end of September there should be little problem.

Just confirmed with them. Catherine is a bit concerned about total numbers with covid procedures. Got any idea on total numbers yet? Or is it just the hard core listed above?

Wendy changed our booking this morning with 'Catherine's husband without difficulty or question. Surely they will manage group sizes . Are Wayne, Kirk & wives joining?

BUMP....
Ideas for the Saturday ride out folks? Think I can do the Elan valley blindfold now (provided there are no white vans for me to ride into the back of) but if y'all want to do it again....

If we have the same folks as last year who've already done it, then maybe giving the Elan Valley a miss just this once is a decent shout.
What about some other lake action? In no particular order, here's a list: Llangorse, Vyrnwy, Bala, Clywedog Reservoir, Pontsticill & Talybont reservoirs.
A re-visit to the Devils Bridge Railway station and cafe might be in order too.

Well I'm now in. The Norfolk posse that were coming with me can't make it so I'm bunking in with the young hooligan Red5.
I've done a lot of south and mid Wales so would love a day out going North ish. But with my memory we could do the same route as last year and I wouldn't remember.....
