I had a great day, although the plan to kip in the garages went breasts skyward when we found the gates locked
So after a little banter with some other guys who were in the same boat we pitched the pop up tents on the tarmac and bedded down. B*gger me it was cold  I knew there was a reason I don't like camping, just didn't remember what it was until Friday night :))
It was nice to be able to get into the garages though :-bd
I took both bikes, the plan was to run the little fzr in the morning, and get some times on the race chrono and then run the ninja in the afternoon, to get used to it and see what its like. That plan went west thanks to Gaz after the first session L-) so I spent all but 1 session on the 7.
Anyway the bike was pretty good, I got a mate to tweak the suspension settings, which really helped to plant the front end, and I managed to get my knee down through the esses (never managed to carry enough speed on the fizzer  )
I managed a best time of 1min 6 which I was pretty pleased with, although Gaz was faster on my little fizzer :((
I have work to do I think :?
Nice to see Talan looking smooth everytime he went past me (which was quite a lot  )
And also good to meet all the SWB members, I'll have to try and get to another get together sometime :-bd

My turn

Well the weekend did'nt start to well for one person 8) did it Chris.
If there was a good advert to show kids the reason u should'nt ride in just a T-shirt, Chris' left arm is it :80: riding his bike up his road to turn it around and a mixture of a new tyre and to much throttle sent Chris sliding down the road and his bike spinning and bouncing off the only lamppost in the street
Anyway we eventually get to the hotel and after a couple of beers and a meal hit the sack.
The next morning we wake up to a frost :80:
At the track and find that they now do noise testing and at weekends its 98db :80:  with my baffle in mine went through at 97.5db :)

apart from Gaz crashing in the 1st session and then running out of fuel on Ninjajockeys bike it was a good morning but that was all to change
I'm sure we will get the full details from Layne eventually :D
Still it was a cracking day the weather was stunning and the company was even better, Congratulations to Rik for popping his knee down cherry and thanks to Gav for some stunning pictures. :-bd
Hope your feeling better soon Layne and Chris and see you all soon :-h

THE WARNING SIGNS WERE THERE

1,waking up @ the track,to hear people saying they'd scraped ice of van windows...
2,bike wouldn't start, flat battery due to the cold,(had to bump it ,thanks layne)
3,riding round on the sighting laps thinking i should've put me neck tube on cos im freezing.

anyway first session of the day about 5 laps in,came out of edwinas, got on the throttle a bit to early, back span up and i went down on the low side.
only damage was peg, lever and fairing easy fixes if i'd brought my box of spares X(
Luckily chris had brought 2 bikes,so second session saw me out on track aboard a j reg fizzer 600,top tip if you borrow someone elses bike check the fuel,as 5 laps in i ran out of petol
After that the day got better, and i really enjoyed the 600.
All in all a cracking day, that could have been a disaster.
nice to catch up with some other swb t.d. ers.
Big thanks to ninja jockey for the fizzer and gav for the photos.
gonna try and get another sneaky one in before xmas

Speedy recovery to layne and chris

Started out good, trying to dial in refreshed forks but couldn’t quite get my time back under the minute.
4th session got fairing bashing with a ZX10 in the hairpin and both ended on the grass.
Backed off the preload and rebound lunch time and got a 59.5 in 1st session after lunch.

2nd session after lunch everything was coming together and tarmac was warmer too. Went out confident I would better the previous time but unfortunately it was my fault for the red flag.
Entered Gerards and went down. Thought it was the front but didn’t feel it washout. Have watched the video back to find it was the rear. Was sliding nicely until I hit the mud.

Went to A&E this morning – had dislocated my little toe and fractured the next 2 and have broken my wrist. Have a temporary cast and waiting to go back in this week for a T shape plate to pin the fracture.

Video of incident from front and back - also Suzuki follows me in at 1.19 and see him getting back on at the very end on the far side of Gerards.

X-rays to follow.

Also Paul got run off onto the grass at the bus stop and had to step off of it. Then the engine failed during last session – took to SP today for diagnosis.

Thanks to all of you for helping with packing and bike recovery.
xxxx

Nice reports and pictures 8) . Though would have preferred less of the cockups  .
Hope your ok Chris…silly things like that happen. And will happen again. Been there done that and will do it again…..
Hope it doesn’t hurt too much layne.hope the damage to the bike is not too bad either. Cold right side of tyre maybe? Thought the video was good. My youngest son laughed when we saw a limping layne walk across the at right angle screen to a ‘you alright mate’…promptly told him off for laughing at an unfortunate incident involving a friend  . Was funny though  :D

Ouch! b-( Bugger... x_x Were you using tyre warmers Layne? I had exactly the same thing happen to me at a race meeting there in 2000 - an unexpected 3rd morning practice session was called and against my better judgement I decided to go out in it, having just done my best ever lap round the place (54s) in the previous session. Unfortunately they kept us in pit-lane for 5 minutes, enough for the tyres to lose sufficient heat and I went down in exactly the same manner after one lap, hurt myself and the race meeting was over for me before it had started :(( Even more annoyingly it meant that I wasn't fit enough to travel to Estoril later that week with Phase One, where we came 3rd... :(
Hopefully you'll be fixed up before too long mate, and you have the off-season to tidy up the bike again - more yellow duct tape perhaps? :-?
