Lynmouth Run Saturday 11th July......anyone?

Friendly Ride within Speed Limits, get there when we get there.

0930 Meet Point @ Ollies Cafe in Highbridge.

Don’t know the route myself this will be my first time so bound to get lost but the weather is looking rather good for it.

Is it worth you riding the route during the week so that you know it?

I don't think that even Billi could get lost on that trip. A38 - A39. Or Bridgwater, turn right.

Doesn't matter anyway, Bournemouth is nice too.

As said it really is A38 turn right A39

In his best Clarksons Voice, how hard can it be ha

But I may do the A38 part during the week as I am still off work.
So technically if anyone want a run I’m around all week also ;)

Did the ride until culbourne, 7 miles out of Lynmouth.
Yea the %%^&^&*( double whites, two lorries and a tractor, even though im a cruiser still did my noodle in, but its so much further down to Taunton I probably still use the brig route but perhaps be clever with timings.

Porlock Hill, well that was interesting for my fist time, all good no issues but I was concentrating on my gears and turns so much that I negated to take notice of the 'Skid Risk' road sign due to new gravel being laid, they gave my arse end a fair old wiggle bracing up to it, but all good.

110 miles later and my back looking forward to some pills.

Shame you didn't go further.. some lovely views on the final approach to Lynmouth on that road, one of the highlights of that road actually.
Have you done that route before?

First time, I’ve done it in a car moons ago but old age memory it’s all new again.

Something to look forward to on the next run and also some idea of how it feels, what I should take in my rucksack and the toll it takes on the body.

I think the upright riding position creates a fair bit of back ache but I cannot lean forward either as that’s worse.

My arms are getting big muscles up top, gonna end up looking like arny.

Anyone else quite well built on their shoulders from riding

Anyone who rides a naked bike is "hard as nails"... sportsbike riders all know this and steer well clear of us.. :)):

You may find moving the footrests forward helps out on the back ache.

Also, and this is an issue for many fair weather riders post winter. You have to develop riding muscles. Neck, arms, back all have to get used to supporting you against 40-60 mph wind. If you ride all year round it's not so much of a problem as they are kept in use. Starting out or riding a different style of bike requires different parts of the muscles to be stronger than others. No different to getting match fit before a season. It doesn't happen overnight but as you do longer runs your body will get used to it, also as you ride more you'll relax, meaning your muscles don't have to work as hard.

My Vstrom was a very upright bike and it use to hurt my shoulder muscles (traps) after a very long day or multiday ride. It also started to hurt my lower back so I took off the "up and back" bar risers it came with and that made me lean in more, which helped with the lower back.
