Aftermarket brake pistons (vs OEM)

Hello everyone - I have a 2005 Speed Triple 1050 with the Nissin calipers. Brakes have always felt a tad off, and have had sticky pistons a few times, I have tried to clean them (without splitting caliper) but think they might be pitted.

Planning to overhaul the calipers over winter, looks like its a known issue with the early 1050s, and they later replaced the pistons with Teflon coated versions. Unfortunately these (part T2020465 I think...) are an eyewateringly high £140 per side

Anyone ever tried a 'Wurth' kit like the one below? Would save me £120, but am hoping to do the job and not have to do it again!

Caliper strip, dress the pistons, quality grease and new seals. Will be fine.

I would not be fitting that square deals kit.

It looks like unbranded pistons (and only a sachet of wurth grease)

Would much rather tried-tested and guaranteed parts.

It's only brakes, nothing too important....

Good spot Ruffian, was thinking it was an aftermarket full kit, think you are right.

I will take them apart and see what they look like as Billy suggests, I can try to give them a gentle dress, its hard to tell from the outside but they might be a little pitted.

Cheers all, Ed

Can always sell you a set of hel performance calipers instead

Not sure on new calipers(!), but I might replace the hoses with HELs while I am doing the job, as the ones on there are about 15 years old.

I didnt need new calipers on my 2016 speed triple t,
But fitted the hel ones anyway and were magnificent.

Hel braided lines are a good improvement over standard.
