There was me thinking that a washer could do the job fine, when really it needed to be welded!

Is it just the nut & washer that's welded?

Fingers crossed it is just that...

Interesting for a front sprocket nut.

Should be able to dremel and cut the welds and remove.

Provided they havent done that because the spines or threads are damaged.

I'm sure that was a fairly common thing to find on 1st Gen Africa Twins

That does seem like a lot of weld if it's just so the nut holds on to that washer..
Any chance it's not actually weld but something like chemical metal (JB weld)?

hoping it's JB, heavy handed DRZ owner.

the dremel will come out first, followed by the grinder!

DRZ.. it'll likely be JB weld.

DRZ's need loctite on the splines to stop that nut coming loose.
Mine ate that washer a few times before I started putting Loctite 270 on the splines.
