Roy Bulcock Memorial Rideout - Sunday 26th October - RIDE CONFIRMED
Posted: Oct 8th, '25, 15:35
Early(ish) heads up to get the date in your diaries for a rideout to remember and celebrate the memory of Roy Bulcock, a much-missed member of SWB.
Full details below. So, get hunting down those 'R.I.P. Roy' Hi-Viz waistcoats (if you still have them) and stock up on empty Tesco carrier bags (those who knew Roy will know exactly what I'm talking about
).
Some 'Roy-isms to NOT consider having on the day include: a semi-auto Acme visor wash, roofing bolt wheel weights, semi-auto chain oiler, slackening and/or loosening off of steering head bearings and suspension, replacing grease with oil (preferably used) in all accessible bearings, fitting worn out and non-matching race scrubs.
For the info' of anyone unfortunate enough not to have met and rode with Roy, the above (and incomplete) list of Roy-isms should give a flavour of his approach to life, biking, the universe and everything. As for the rest, you'll just have to turn up on the day and hear the stories from those of us who survived all the rideouts he was on.
MEET: Shell filling station (not Esso as it says on Google maps) on the A38 Wellington ring road near Chelston roundabout TA21 9AD.
LEAVING: 10.00 hrs prompt so please get there a tad earlier for a quick briefing and carrier bag check
.
ROUTE: Approximately 83 miles in a vaguely anti-clockwise direction with a coffee and snack stop at South Molton, finishing with more coffee/tea at the Bluebell at Willand around 13.30-ish hrs. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Esso/ ... FQAw%3D%3D
NOTE: - RIDEOUT IS CONFIRMED AS ON
