I noticed on the other what you ride.. thread that a lot of people seem to change bikes pretty regularly. Some people seem to have had more bikes in 3 or 4 years than I've had in the last 13. Just got me wondering why really - is it a case of getting bored/wanting something new, or something better; something that will push your limits a bit more, cos you broke the old one, or just cos they released a new one? Personally I guess I have always found I've got kind of attached to the bikes I've owned so have hung on to them - had my 7-11 for the past 4 years now and it's still evolving, and had my old Kat for about 4-5 before that - that only really went due to getting past the point of economical repair after being used as a daily hack for so long, but just wondering why people change so often really?

ive had 8 bikes in 7 years (not including scooters i used for work), guess i just like changing most years,trying new bikes and different styles-full on sports bikes, 'touring' sports bikes,v-twins,IL4's etc etc. theres so many nice bikes out there i couldnt see myself keeping the same one for ages!

I tend to change every 1 and a half to two years because:

I prefer newer bikes and bike development moves ever forward and I cant think of anything better to waste the money on.

Don't change much really, i sort of just keep them for ages as i don't ride particularly hard or fast i don't wear them out but i allways fancied my Daytona since i saw the 595's when they were new and its taken a while but i have one now and am happy with it. But i may have to get something else to take the missus out on as the seat is a bit small for her curvaceousness, a sprint maybe instead..........

i normally get a bit bored of the current bike and mainly change them before they get to 3yrs old so i don't have to botther getting an MOT.

the triple will probably be changed by this time next year.
same style of bike so might be a super duke or z1000 or fazer and will see what the new 1000 hornet looks like in the flesh

New 1000 Honda isn't going to be called a Hornet but a cracking looking thing IMO and I bet the footrest don't disintegrate either...

I don't tend to change/get rid of bikes that much .... Most of the Wop stuff I had for at least 4 or 5 yrs each ('cept the two guzzi's), the GPz550 for about 4, the GPz11 for 5, the GSX11 for 2, the Kat for nearly 13 and I've had the TL for 6 now ...... at one point I had six bikes and two cars but a new mortgage and redundancy in the early 90's (who says Thatcher was so good ) kind of meant a clear-out of all but the essential

Things get in my way... Cars, brick walls, police etc.

because i can and ive not found the right bike yet,well i think i have its just i dont own it.

also i get bored in hotel rooms and end up looking on ebay and seeing something else i like,so stick what i have for sale,i actually enjoy the wheeling and dealing side of buying and selling bikes and thenm personallising them to my tatses. sometimes its because funds are needed for other reasosn too.

Just do what everyone else does and get a hooker, its cheaper in the long run.

Lol. Illsay one thing. Buy a speed four and you will not want to ever sell it.

sounds a good idea but it would lead to a whole lot of trouble with the wife plus i cant get divorced over a bike though can i,if that happened i'd have no where to store the bike either
