Sorry but a silly thread really but it gets you lot talking.

Have you ever ridden a bike with leaking fork seals ??

Noticed my RR was handling funny. Then found out the fork seals were slightly leaking.

Not had chance to sort it yet and got new seals sat here waiting to fit  Just toooo busy !!

Anyhow have you ever ridden with leaky seals. What a mad and scary feeling.

Firstly you get this little vib from the front like the tyre is flat and don't really notice much more whilst riding along steady. But when you forget about it and wind the bike open tip her into a corner and OH MY GOD

Scary as the bike just sort of wobbles and weaves and just lacks major confidence. Fecking shat myself big time this morning

Its goes to show what good set up suspension can do for you and if its not and with the slightest leak from the seals can make all the difference.

Must admit, i never noticed much of a difference on my old GS1000 and the fork seals used to go regularly as the chrome was pitted and used to rip the seals about every couple of months but then the suspension is quite agricultural anyway :)

Divvy ones have leaked for a while now, doesn't feel any different to me though from before. Maybe because the suspension is utter shite on it.

My RM250 ( motocross) used to leak oil like a sieve, there were oil stains on the garage floor where it was parked. Can’t say I noticed any difference though  :D

I had a maggot for a while that felt as if the seals had gone

But realised that they all felt like that

Did have one go on my old Trident which made for some interesting cornering

I'm still riding on leaky seals, havent noticed a huge difference to the handling, the only time I really noticed was when the seals went year or so ago and when they were ' fixed' ( had to go back cos they did a shit job first time) found that the bearings had gone on one side of the front wheel and the bronze bush thingy at the bottom of the fork leg was distorted. I'd recommend checking thoroughly all internals when you change them. But then again I'v still not got round to buying the needed new seals yet so you're one up on me already  !
