Holes appearing – Honda out, Hodgson without ride

With the Factory Suzuki’s (SERT), Kawaski’s (TKF) and Honda’s (France) pulling out of the World Endurance Championship and now Honda America (See below). Will we see others and in BSB pull out before the start of season. :?:

I think we will as the money dries up, from either title sponsors or product sponsorship.
Teams can’t compromise and will start pulling out of races. their aren’t sponsors waiting in the wings to replace them and racing is very money hungry.

Kawasaki is confirmed as being out of MotoGP next year :(
SPEEDtv.com has learned from sources speaking on condition of anonymity that the decision is final and was made “at the highest level of Kawasaki” to halt all plans to race in the FIM MotoGP series in 2009.

Marco Melandri has confirmed this and is looking for a last-minute ride. Both Melandri and Hopkins are still contracted to ride for Kawasaki and might be paid to sit out the season. Melandri, however,
has already contacted several World Superbike teams.

Additional sources confirm that Honda HRC considered the possibility of withdrawing as well, but have decided to continue in 2009. They will reevaluate the situation during the season.

... and I've heard it from other places too ... bummer

There's a rumour Hopper's going to WSBK (but then he's said he's ignored all the phone calls from the media). Also a rumour that he's gonna replace CE @ Tech3! I've also heard that one Kwak rider confirmed the Kwak departure to a friend, and also that Suzuki are close to pulling out.

Kawasaki announcement due early next week (Mon I think), followed by Suzuki's announcement "in the next week or so".

Maybe it'll be goodbye MotoGP :(

Personally I think it's their own fault. I have long been of the opinion that they missed the boat several years ago and should have been forced down the route of engine or chassis supply only ...... along the lines of F1 ..... the die was cast with the ROC & Harris Yamaha's, but they failed to capitalise on it. The only team to quit F1 (Honda) is one of the few without a main sponsor other than the constructor/team owner.

Best bet would be to allow them to supply engine's only, which might allow true innovation .... factories engineer's aspirations are frequently damped by what the marketing men think they can sell the following monday.

I think a bit of "heart-ache" might not be such a bad thing in the long run if it breaks the principle manufacturers stranglehold on bike sports and allows some truly new/innovative teams to break in

suzuki as a compnay is up for sale so it wouldnt be a suprise if they pulled out of motogp which would probably then lead to a lack of support in bsb.
