Ahhh bless
Sometimes mate people just try too hard and end up being more tensed and don't have a chance.
Just relax, turn in later and harder, hang off like a monkey and stick your knee out (like one of my llandow pics

) and just trust the tyres once they are warm enough.
The rest is history

FAIL
I got my knee down twice. Once resulted in scuffed leathers. The second resulted in 4 stitches

Stop talking testicles you old fart, R1's are a piece of piss to get over, easier that the 6's.
The best bike I have found to learn on is an old CB400, easiest bike in the world to take over.
Si, when you up this way again with your bike, there is a great training ground near me, idea for playing off road first.
Mark hit the nail on the head, position and trust in the tyres, If you dont trust your tyres it will never happen.

Funny you should mention this cos ive still not been able to get my knee down on the ninja yet and its bugging me.I had no problems doing it on the VFR at all, piece of piss in fact, but its eluding me on this one.
I know its all down to not enough entry speed into corners cos im hanging off to the point of slipping but at every corner exit i know i could've gone at least 5mph faster.New front tyre and head bearings would probably help my corner confidence too
All i can suggest Si is to get down to the roundabouts (or empty car park) and just get some laps in.Maybe get someone to watch/film you to see where you could improve
Failing that ive got an angle grinder you can use!
