Donington Problems

Heard rumours on Monday from friends at a trackday:

The construction has stopped for the new F1 pits – believed to be as payment isn’t forthcoming,

And the Circuit doesn’t currently have a race licence because of the changes in making the new tunnel, which has raised doubts for the BSB round soon.

Now the Circuit owners are suing the operators for lack of rent and to terminate the lease:

That sucks. Moto GP needs a British GP as does F1. I was never sure Donnington was the right circuit for it given the complaining the riders used to make about it, right back to the days of Lawson and Gardner when the new hairpin went in. Hopefully it can be sorted for next year because let's face it, the Hungaroring track was near enough finished and they cancelled that. Donnington looks like a building site at the moment and they have under 3 months to make it all spangley! No chance!

Would love to see it back at Silverstone though.

I seem to remember mentioning the issue of a huge gap in Donnington's funding plan two months or more ago, and was told I was talking rubbish ......... then again I was also told I was talking rubbish when I said MotoGP was going to Silverstone from Donnington .......

Where's Deej when you want him

Very sad all the same
