What to do with an old helmet

Post by graham22 »

OK, Ideas required.

I've got an old Rainey Rep and want to keep it/display it somehow as Wayne Rainey has always been a bit of a hero of mine. The lid was one of my first decent lids but got damaged when it was less than 2 years old (very light mark, insurance paid for new lid etc, currently covered by paint as I have no intention of using it again). I've got rid of more recent helmets but can't throw away this one.

Probably the lid most associated with Rainey.

Before any one suggests flower pot/lamp shade etc I just want ideas how to show and mount the lid. I have a black visor so any 'mounting hardware' won't be seen. I've thought to mount it face down, with the base against the wall but as high on the wall as possible in the spare bedroom/bike kit room.

Any ideas please?

See if you can get an old manequin head from a shop, and mount it to a wooden plaque at a natural angle via a steel "neck" arm, so it looks a bit like one of those stuffed animal heads hunters are so fond of :D
