Sensible move in a way .... given the current engine longevity requirements, a 1000cc engine is less stressed than an 800, therefore will go further between rebuilds and therefore reducing costs. Plus they all have 1000cc engines on the shelf already that wern't exactly short on power ......

wont they have just wasted 3 years of development working on the 800cc, cant see they would just totally cut their losses. As it seems mostly to be about money, surely developing another load of prototypes would be fairly counter productive.

Between Ductai, Yamaha and Maybe Honda ( by yesterdays race) you have 3 manufacturers at the pointy end, all who have very competitive bikes and riders, all who are aiming to win next years season (i know the changes wouldnt happen for a while but still). Why would they risk putting together a new package that might not suit there chances as much, it would be a gamble. As they would all have to agree to make it happen, i cant see Ducati agreeing.
