I've just booked on this free course on 25th April in Taunton. There are still places available if anyone is interested.
I.C.A.R.E. ‘Immediate Care At the Roadside in an Emergency’ is a first aid course for motorcyclists and other vehicle users. It supplies the participants with the knowledge and skills required to manage the scene of an accident, including how to remove a motorcyclist's helmet in order to provide resuscitation. You can view more details on the ambulance service website.

A friend of mine works for
http://roadsafetysomerset.org.uk/ and he told me about it.
Ah - I should have thought of that. I think their funding means that they have to give preference to Zummerzet folk. I'll try to find out if there is something similar down your way.

Whilst its a bit of a bummer that they give priority to the Zummerzet lot, the only bit of that course that I would like to learn is the safe removal of the casualties lid. The rest would only be a refresher as I'm already an OPITO AMA
Im pretty sure my other half knows someone who might be able to help sort or point me/us in the right direction to get something like this for those who cannot get on this course...... I'll let youse knows

No, but it might mean that a Somerset person could help you out someday......that should be worry enough!!

The NHS recognise that Somerset folk are simply more prone to falling off and hence in more need of such courses

My friend at Somerset Road Safety Partnership tells me that as far as he knows Devon don't offer anything similar at the moment

If a group of you can get together, I'm sure the local Red Cross or St Johns will do something similar for a donation.
We did this a few years ago with our local bike club, the St Johns treated it as a fun training night whilst raising some funds at the same time.
