Do you use I.C.E. do you lock your mobile, it might be worth keeping this information in your wallet / jacket. Cause if it is your phone and its locked how do people get this information.

Just thought I mention this as on Saturday when I was at a bike accident scene as when the paramedics and I were looking who to contact in an emergency we hoped that he used I.C.E. in his phone but it was locked so we couldn't access this information

A mate of mine hit a curb when out on his pushbike, woke up in hospital and no-one had a clue who he was. Since that day if i'm out on my motorbike, pushbike or even just out running I wear a dogtag, cheap as chips.

Thats when you need the help of a passing yoof (Preferably a Scouser).
If you're over 30 its probably too complicated but you may get in with a bit of fiddling.
If you're over 40 you may aswell not even bother looking the phone.( i guess you fall into this category ;) )

I don't bother locking my phone because I've just got a simple phone that makes calls and texts only. The keypad locks buts thats easy to unlock, it even tells you how when you press any key ;) .

Oh and yes I'm over 40 (only just), but in my head I'm still young, handsome with a full head of hair! Hmmmmmm, reality sucks!!

As I have said before, I don't use ICE because I would rather people treat me in and emergency rather than looking through my phone and I don't believe it would be the best time to call someone immediately after an accident when the adrenaline is pumping, there is a lot of noise around and no one has any answers as yet.

I'll just keep ID on me for when I get to hospital.

Just my opinion though...

We didnt look for emergency contact details until after the biker was in the ambulance and was being stablised before being air lifted to Derriford and the paramedic was after this information (I personally wouldnt contact the family etc as this is carried out by the emergency services)

I only wanted to mention this as it made me think what happens when you do use ICE and you lock your mobile.

I will also be purchasing the wrist band ID as when out running i dont even have my phone with me

A Scouser?? You'd never see the phone, wallet, jacket, keys or even the bike ever again!!

Following a recent fatality among our group and seeing that the medics were rather hand tied not knowing the fact that the rider had a history of a recent heart operation until by chance we mentioned it to the police at the scene i decided i would purchase ae utag and now ware a dog tag containg doctors phone , address, contact address etc when ever i am on the bike, there is a sticker on the bike and on my lid informing this.
you never know it just might save my life

I have just ordered a Rider ID from the states, looks ok. I also have a ice-tag, the usb version got it when they first came out, carried it around for years but I never saw many paramedics with laptop. Maybe they have one in the wagon? so I do not use it now. I carry a card in my wallet with id, next of kin ect on it and I also have one in the see through arm pocket of my jacket. Bit of overkill I know but I tend to think of when not if I am going to do somersaults down the road.
