Meh my bad. There's a butter fly on the exhaust just before the can. It has a name but don't know it of the top of my head

Reckon that refers to a butterfly 'choke' in the exhaust. My old man insisted on calling the 'choke' the throttle & calling the 'throttle' the accelerator.
Throttle and choke are indeed interchangeable when referring to some people.
P.S. 2 pairs of LJ s this morning I think.

Mine has it off. I believe it's generally done so you can fit an aftermarket pipe.
I know I have a load of bits left over from its removal so it saves a little bit of weight too.
Best off asking at a specific GSXR forum for gsxr tech stuff though.
Cheers

I would suggest you go to Gixxer.com or Gixxerboyz.co.uk they would have a better idea on performance mods to specific GsxR models. I can only advise on older models, sorry.
I would imagine though if its an exhaust butterfly linked to choke or throttle position it might mess up your ecu readings and cause the bike to run badly, you might be in the territory of needing dyno work and re flashing to get things re set with the Ecu / onboard sensors etc.? As I say I'm not familiar with newer K models so I'm just guessing.

I would guess it's like the exup on the Yamaha. It's to provide a bit of back pressure in the outlet to help it run smoothly at low revs.
If you remove it without a remap it will be lumpy at low revs impeding your pull away acceleration.
I would leave it in

I had a look at the gixxer site for all of 5 mins. I will pop on there and have a search at some point
