Accident, NO TAX

Post by andyleem »

Hi. I was on the way to get tax for the first day on my bike. I had an accident with a motorist who didnt look to see if anyone was coming, and was all her fault which she and the witneses agreed with.
The problem is i didnt have tax and the time of the accident but was fully insured and registered.
What should i do, go and get tax now and say ive had it for a while?
ive got to go to police station to hand in license and insurance. what do you advise?

Go get your tax - you've probably got 7 days to go to the Police station and the tax will be backdated to 1st December - which is obviously when you bought it  Just check the date/time your insurance is effective from. No reason for the police to ask when you bought the tax disk and no reason for you to tell them.

Hope you and the bike are ok.
my mind not only wanders ... sometimes it leaves completely

afaik the police can only have you for faliure to display a tax disc. make sure you have one when you take your documents. They shouldn't ask to see a tax disc on a producer anyway so I shouldnt worry too much

Erm, i havnt seen the bike much becuase it is at recovery, but the first glimpse of it was the front end destroyed. so we will see how the insurance goes, and i am also claiming against the woman for injuries.

Hi Andy,

Sorry to hear about the crash mate...

But... I do have a Motorhispania RX for sale if your interested... really cheap...

Fastest 50cc (Ahem, big bore kit etc = 70 mph) on 2 wheels, just needs an MOT (Failed on Headlamp bulb and chain/sprockets - have fitted new gold chain / sprockets) or you could strip one to feed the other and have loads of spare parts left too... :P

Interested give me a bell 07900347148

If they ask why there's no indate disc on the bike, just say you always carry it. So it doesn't get taken off the bike.

Lol if they ask for the tax disc il bring an old tax disc holder and put the tax disc in and say i picked it up from the wreckage as i was getting into the ambulance.

dunno what im gunna do yet, might get mine repaired.

I'd suggest that you keep quiet about the tax issue, and try to avoid questions about it ....... when it is issued they stamp it with a date stamp ..... :?

However, the time of issue will not be recorded, so you got it taxed first thing didn't you  8)

Don't worry to much about the Tax mate !

It won't affect the accident at all as it did not contubute to the accident, the old bill might fine you for the lack of tax.
