BP GARAGE PETITION!!!!!!!
Moderator: Staff
I agree it is a pain having to take helmets off. Have ended up dropping mine previously whilst refuelling. But are we being asked because cars etc are easily recognised by the cctv cameras because of the number plates on the front
If someone nicked my bike and was silly enough to go to a garage to refuel it, I would like someone to be able to track them down. Chances of finding them even then
Virtually NIL.

I see the point, but just as a note - I don't think it's descrimination against bikers.
It's just a rule against helmets; do you think that if a car driver wore a helmet (Over-cautious, whatever) he'd be allowed to leave it on aswell? I don't think so...
It's not bikers, it's helmets.

Yes they do serve muslims, they're not bigots and that's religion, this thread is fast starting to smack of racism...Mike Daytona600 wrote: And do your kids serve muslims with their faces covered cos lets face it they're the ones blowing people up at the moment, not bikers.
It's about equality and we DON'T get it.
Like I said if it was the same for everyone with their faces covered I'd remove my lid in the interest of safety. BUT IT'S NOT
Sonic said he respects the rules abroad but it seems most on here can't do it at home.
Being asked to remove your helmet IS in the interest of safety, as is not being able to enter a bank wearing a helmet or balaclava, or most establishments where cash is likely to be stolen.

Hey Ninjaboy, this isn't an arguement mate...
I appreciate you posting a good thread, makes a change on here to be able to have a proper discussion about something, and see peoples' differing views on the matter.
I also agree with a lot of what 'anti-removals' have said, personally I hate taking my helmet off especially in the winter, what with gloves, neck warmers ets, and admit that I never used to until I understood why we were being asked.

its not racist - is he saying they all blow themselves up? is it not actually true that there is 'some' extremism...Maver-Nick wrote:Yes they do serve muslims, they're not bigots and that's religion, this thread is fast starting to smack of racism...Mike Daytona600 wrote: And do your kids serve muslims with their faces covered cos lets face it they're the ones blowing people up at the moment, not bikers.

its attitudes like this and the speed at which people start screaming racism that have led everything having to become pc - the most racially preduciced group in this country is a white, male, hetrosexual christian.
i dont want to but can you imagine the outcry if i started a white male christian only group in plymouth...
the news this morning - 37% of muslims asked dont respect british laws, 13% respect Alcieda...
and they are now talking about asking people to respect british laws - too late (stable - horse bolted springs to mind)
pc-ness created this problem by forcing us to refer to each other as the pakistani community or the polish community - either WE are british or not. if you have a british passport - you are bristish.
do you think there would have been a massive outcry on celebrity big brother if shilpa had been irish???
pc-ness has led to chirstmas carols being banned, religious icons and decorations taken down - people not being able to wear crosses at work yet try to tell a shiek they cant wear a turban - the government wouldnt dare and they SHOULDNT have to tell anyone not to in the first place.
all this has led to is a segragated britain - there would not be ethnic minorities if everyone had not been so desparate to be pc.
everyones human, no matter what, so treat them the same way. if they wanted to be treated differently then they need to go to the country of the treatments origin.
respect and tolerance is one thing - changing one country's religion to another so you dont upset people is another.
and this started out as a discussion about helmets.

chris has a point. mthese stickers have been on the entry pointy for years and years. but ross also has a point. 6 of one half a dozen or the other. TBH should be all for one or none for all. simple as.watters wrote:sorry but there are notices up before you enter saying not to wear them so why moan when you ignore the sign and proceed to wear them?
if your bike was stolen and they rode to a petrol station and took their helmet off after re-fuelling, wouldnt you be happy that the cctv caught their faces on camera?
either everyone takes head gear off, weather sumbrero, turban, helmet cap. or we all leave them on.
YOU DECIDE

I agree with almost everything Sonic said 2 posts ago (I'm not gonna quote, too much space) I keep my views a little closer to my chest though, when you've experienced the hatred first hand, you learn to keep your gob shut.
I could write stuff and be as controversial about alternative religion as the next bloke, but my point was, should we be posting about religious stuff on here and come across as a racist bunch (As was discussed on here before) I'm sure there's non terrorist, bike riding muslims out there.
Doesn't it say... 'No Swearing or Racist posts' on the home page... do we risk losing this site if we post things like that ?

You need to read things more carefully my friend...zx6ninjaboy wrote: i have a swear filter on my petition so before it gets sent out or whatever the coments wont appear on the screen
I was talking about possible racist comments being posted on SWB and the chance of us losing the site because of it, nothing at all about your petition.
The same as you saying to me 'You are in yea?'... No, read my previous posts, I most certainly am not... But hey, we're all entitled to our opinions, so if you have good luck with your petition, then I wish you well... but I will still be removing my helmet.
