GHOULS FILM M25 CRASH DEAD
By Catherine Harker
CAMERAS and mobile phones were seized from sick ghouls who took pictures of the bodies of two motorcyclists who died in a motorway pile-up.
Police were forced to close a bridge over the M25 when hordes of rubberneckers took photographs of the grim scene while emergency crews were trying to help the casualties.
Officers confiscated a number of mobile phones with cameras and digital cameras and wiped off pictures of the two dead bikers.
Inspector Mark Harman from Essex Police said: "We had people trying to take pictures of the bodies, so we had to seize the cameras.
"And because of these people we had to close off the road until the bodies had been removed and then it could be reopened. It's grotesque."
Inspector Harman said an articulated lorry carrying metal waste collided with a BMW car and both vehicles smashed through the crash barrier at Brentwood, Essex, into earlymorning traffic, hitting a group of five motorcyclists.
Two of the bikers - a 40-year-old from Enfield, North East London, and a 44-year-old from Ilford, East London - were declared dead at the scene. A third was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.
The 29-year-old driver of the lorry, from Kent, was also taken to hospital with serious injuries. The 25-year-old driver of the BMW car was treated at hospital and later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving
