can i get another v5 for my frame ??
hi peeps first post on here , im in the process of building a rs 125 from scratch and started of about a month ago when i bought a frame of eBay i only payed £10.50 for it which i was bloody chuffed with now the geezer told me he didn't have a v5 for it as it was a bought a as cosmetic write off he failed to tell me this till after the frame had turned up at my house and i noticed the chassis plate had been took of now i don't mind that all i need to know is can i appy for a new v5 for the bike or will i have to go through a load of hassle to get it re registered if so i think ill just sell all the parts and either buy a rs complete or have a look out for a tzrr hope someone can shed a little light on this for me cheers. p.s i have the frame number but thats it lol

you should be able to get a proof of date of manufacture for the frame from Aprilia - you should in theory then be able to apply to the dvla for a new age related plate. I'm currently in the process of doing this for an old xs650 frame
if it's only a cosmetic write off though (cat C), if you can find out the old reg number you should be able to put it back together and put it back on the road after a VIC i'd have thought. if it was cat D cosmetic write off I don't know if it would even have needed a vic inspection

lol , starting to think along the lines of a nice 600 srad luv them bikes awesome also im 23 this year and need to start looking at a bigger bike if i can boost my confidence to do my test. just since i was 19 ive had 125s and i do luv them but there comes a time when you know its time to move up and seeing all the bikes coming out to play makes me wanna get out on the road and get rid of those bloody l plates , if all goes to plan would like to be able to pass me test and get a bike sorted for the British gp and ride up there anyone got any advice on what sort of prices im looking at for a full bike test

As for the frame, sounds a bit stolen to me, why else would somone remove the chassis id plate??
Because if it's a cat A or B write off (ones that can't go back on the road again), the insurance companies demand them to be sent to them to prove the death of the bike
Some insurance companies used to demand (may still do even

try phoning the dvla and quoting the frame number - its a modern machine so they should be able to tell you from the database if its registered or recorded, and may even be able to give you the registrtion number. if you can get the reg number, you can then find out if it's been written off etc, and if its all clear can just pay £19 to apply for a new log book with a form from the post office
