REASONS WHY THIS SITE IS FALLING TO DEATH!!

Post by Blimey »

Ok apparently after speaking to numerous people as to why this site is loosing interest reasons are.

1) Peeps getting clicky

2) Non talk of bikes

Seems alot i know to deal with.

1) You will get peeps being clicky as its a local site. Not like an international or a national site. We are all local friends and neighbours.

What did someone say the other day " its only clicky if you don't fit in or make the effort to "

Moving on

2) Bikes ? Every post i put up is preety much about bikes and all those who have moaned aboit the site, have not replyed to one of my posts eithier mechanical, races, general crap that i post to get peeps talking.

So what s your view??

Plus don't think for a minute that we are alone as believe me plenty other sites are asking the same "Q" . The advantage for us is we are small time and local and still doing better then them

What do you mean by 'clicky'? :?

I've put topics up that aren't about bike but then why not. I put one up recently about water rates and a lot of peeps said how much they are paying on a meter...we now have a meter. :D

You can usually tell if the topic is about bikes or not by the title so if you only want to look at bike related stuff, only open bike related stuff.

Like you say this is a local and friendly website and we're all on it cos of bikes but does that mean we can't talk about other things.

If people want more bike related stuff then why don't thay post it, even if it just telling us about a ride they've been on...I do.

But don't you have to meet on a regular basis to be classed as clicky ??

We only meet once or twice a month, if that (except Ride outs).

I for one, probably being one of the gobbyist pregnant goldfishies on here will take to anyone, I have no preference to who I talk to.

But

Some peeps do find it difficult to talk to other people, Sarah for instance, would never dream of going to a pub meet on her own, not for the fact that she doesn't know anyone, but for the fact that she is fairly shy, and yes, men can be like this as well.

If you are one of these peeps, who are fairly shy, the more posts you put up on the site the more people will get to know your name, and the more of your name they get to hear, the more likely they will want to meet you and introduce themselves at pub meets and ride outs.

I mentioned about clicks on another site, and everyone tried to bite my head off, but I wont go into that here.

This sounds bike related to me. I don't have a water meter so all my bike mates come to my house to wash them lol.

I dont think this site is failing at all. Although I don't post very often I still read often and have found posts both ammusing and informative. I only think people find it failing if they spend TOO MUCH time on here and not enough of other things. Well that's my opinion (stone me now if I speak out of term).

i dont think its falling its just the same people posting the majority of the time, most of the time we all have a laugh but then when it can get a bit nasty when someone slates your opinion,at the end of the day its my opinion and tough shit if you dont like it.

regarding clicks or cliques, theyre everywhere. i doubt i'll ever go to a pub meet, a: i live too far away, b: im too shy to speak to starnge people in a pub.i'd be alright speaking to mike, craig and age as ive met them before but i wouldnt be comfortable if they werent there.

regarding the threads, as long as the titles relevant you should know what to expect the topic to be on the minute you open it,id the titles stupid i wont bother reading it

just my 5p's worth. lol

p.s. do you think it'll be the same 30 odd people posting on this as most threads

Blimey you know as well as I do that this site is not Clicky !

If people do not like this site then they do not have to read or post on it.

99% of users are bloody nice to know

There have only been a few tossers on this site and they have gone else where now.

99% of the time if a user/member needs help they will get it if they ask.

It is a LOCAL site so there will never be a huge amount of usage.

I know from my own personal expirence that on ride outs you don't always get chance to meet new members as you end up catching up with old friends and run out of time.

Pub meets even forme Deej Exeter is 30 miles away and I work 12 hour shifts and the last thing I want to do is go out after work !!!

At the end of the day what you get out from this forum depends on what you put into it.

I think this site is alive and well, as a memeber of the aircooled RD club one make /model club there are a lot less members and there is a big get togethr once a year at Ashbourne derbyshire and occasional local meets like at haynes museum recently it was the second ever the first 2 years ago saw 5 RD,s this year it ws 10 or 12 , but the forum is going from strength to strength,Ric the main man just updated the forum to a new server, there are far fewer regular users than this site, what i enjoy about this site it has a range of different bikers with different thoughts and I have met a few of you briefly, unfortunatly being in france at the time of the latest Barney pub meet did not get to that , but that is the disadvantage of being a truck driver and away from home a lot of the time in the summer,
I think this club/forum is alive and well come on folks oh i have not got a water meter but it would cost most of ya more ij petrol than the water would to come and wash your bikes

There's nowt wrong with this site at all in my opinion.
As was mentioned before, if you spend alot of time on a pc, it may seem a bit slow at times.
But most of us have other commitments that don't allow too much time for sitting at a computer.
As well as having to share pc time with kids and other halfs.
I personally think that this site is by far the best i've ever used, so much so that I don't go on any others now.
SWB has like minded users, who are friendly, (most of the time)
And has a wealth of information about all kinds of biking.
As well as water meters... :?
I believe the thread title is not a view you share Mark? you are quoting someone else?
Lets not get Clicky, confused with friendly.
Everyone is welcomed anytime, anywhere on SWB.
Long may it continue.
Thats my 10p worth.

I'm still hairly new to this site (see my number of posts) and I find I get all the help I need - I don't comment much on the Tech side of things as I honestly don't know much about the bits and bolts.

I feel I have been welcomed to the site and I've never met any of the guys from SWB!!!

Anyone who says this site is going downhill is sadly mistaken! or doesn't make the effort!! - You don't make friends from a one-line post.

For the time I've been using this site I wouldn't say it is 'clicky'. No matter where you go or what you do in life, not everyone is going get on, for whatever reasons they have. That's just the way of the world. I find this site, amusing, interesting and informative. It's good to hear other peoples opinions on things.
