thats an entirely different discussion though isn't it? you are talking about mainly track use where its logical that you'd use track orientated tyres.

do you find them difficult to get up to temp on the road as logic says they work best at a much higher temp range so aren't as sticky for road use, what sort of milage would you expect from them?

youve said youve not been on track on your bike so how do you know the difference between riding it on road and track. ive ridden a 07 fireblade round donington and been within 7 seconds of the haslam school records and im no god and theres no way on this earth that you can ride a sportsbike on the road as harsh or agressively as you do track. ive never seen anyone leaving 30fts worth of darkies on the road but on track my instructor was and he had smoke coming off the rear under heavy braking. the bridgestones we were using didnt even tear up. if your getting bobbles on the road it'll more than likely be down to incorrect pressures or badly set up suspension. if its your ability thats doing it you should give up road riding and take up racing mate

taff, you asked what tyres we fitted and why, didnt you?
ive got to say to go for the michelins on a sportsbike. the 2ct's work well on the road and warm up quite quickly, give good grip and are quite confidence inspiring,i also have the benefit of a k-tech'd rear shock which helps with grip and tyre life.mileage isnt a issue to me as im not allowed to use it for work so its pure pleasure for me.you dont want them to be too sticky on the road as your more likely to get a puncture from the road crap and also get all the dirt and crap stuck to your tyres when riding. for the average rider a sport tourer will be ample but for peace of mind we all go for a sporty based tyre as its one less worry. if i was solely riding on the road i'd have a pirelli diablo again. road and track the ct's and track only the racetec's but only as i havent tried the power race yet.

Because I have ridden my other bikes on the track.

Pleased for ya mate. How did you get to ride the blade then? Is it level 2 or 3 you get to ride the blade?

Why not?

I have seen people laying darkies on the road. But he did say that his BT014's were shite.

oooo. Don't tell Steve at Peak Performance that. He set the suspension up..

Thanks Deej. nice of you to say :)
But I can't justify the expense and I just don't have the time. Haven't managed to get a Holiday for 3 years let alone loads of days off a year to play racing.
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you on experience.

level 3 on the blade mate, was a awesome day out.
steve also set up my suspension and my 2cts havent tore up yet. i know what you mean about time and money for racing, i'd love to do it but know i cant afford to do it or get the time off work either lol
ive never seen anyone spinning a rear up on the road like my instructor did at donny, ive certainly never span the rear or braked as late on the road as i do on the track, its scary with all that run off let alone cornish hedges

anyway back to the original thread

PP2CT's for me for road and track

Was thinking about CSS myself. Although I have heard good things about the RH race school. But haven't really decided yet. I do really like Donnington as a track. Schwantz (sp) used to frighten me a bit though. Just seemed too far over for too long to be that hard on the noise :)

I only have Devon banks to contend with here ;)

Diablo Corsa III's for me. And I will be on track with them too. Silverstone with any luck..

I dont think most people need the top of the range road/race tyres most of the time. It's one of those catch 22 things, you feel that if you dont you may not have the grip when you need it, tbh I expect you'll have more than you'll ever need.

Last year I stuck a set of Diablo Stradas on my ZX6R, never faulted me once in the dry or wet, even did a trackday, pushing to the edge front and back, they were perfect. I'm going sports tourish next, Got Corsas on atm because I couldnt not get a bargain :)

Kelly has Michelin Pilot Sport which dont exactly have great reviews, I certainly wouldnt put them in the same league as standard diablos but they also handled perfectly on the track this year. I never felt like I needed more.

If they can do this on the track then they'll be more than perfect for the road, anyone that goes anywhere near 50% as fast as they do on the road as they do on the track wont last long, thats for sure.

If the dual compound pilot road 2's are cheaper when I next go for tyres I'll go for them I think, I dont ride fast enough to need anymore.

yes I did, I was thinking about purely road riding but didn't say so

you dont want them to be too sticky on the road as your more likely to get a puncture from the road crap and also get all the dirt and crap stuck to your tyres when riding.

thats another thing that hadn't occured to me but when you think about it it makes sense that stickier tyres will pick up road debris.

Don't I know that. My rennsports got a puncture (nice big nail) only days before llandow so I had to scrub in a brand new tyre...and the scrubbed in luvverly
