hi, due to being 19 my gixxer 600 is on a 33bhp restrictor, while riding home from seeing the girlfriend i let it out on a deserted a-road and looked at the speedo showing a ton. is this normal for a restricted bike? not that im complaining at the speed but i dont wanna ride something illegal for insurance reasons. i wouldve expected something like 80-90 for a 33bhp bike bearing in mind the weight of the bike etc.
any help would be greatly appreciated

My Sv is resticted also to 33bhp and when it not resticted it got to 110mph quickly and then slowly accelerated round to 120mph when either i V-maxed or bottled out (can't remember but that was a while ago.)
Anyways while restricted i can get to 90mph quite quickly but I slowly accelerated to an indicated 105mph on the speedo with head down on the tank.

Blue Sv650s Curvey - Now unrestricted but starting to find the suspension a problem.
Next bike: CBR600RR eventually.

Getting to a tonne is normal. If you were getting 120+ then i would be concerned. As long as you have had the restictor fitted from a decent garage with certificate your insurance will not be invalidated.
My certificate says my bike has a top speed of 110mph restricted but my bike would never get that as it is not new!
