Trying to be original but cant, so......Hi!
Went to the bike show at Newton Abbott racecourse yesterday. Spoke to a few people. Im definatly swaying more and more towards doing my test, but i really enjoy just going pillion so is there much point???I enjoy sitting on the back and not having to worry about controling the bike or watching out for dickheads on the road!!!
Welcome to the site. It is much more fun riding than the bike than being a pillion.
Like everyone has said, do your CBT, and learn on a 125, take a direct access course and get a gsxr also! I have seen some biker couple's with similar bikes, i.e. his and hers.

Blue Sv650s Curvey - Now unrestricted but starting to find the suspension a problem.
Next bike: CBR600RR eventually.

I agree with Ricky T, though I would probably go for the restricted test as it's easier and a bit safer...the restrictors can always conveniently fall out onto the garage shelf once you think you're used to it...
Ask speedy about the test.

didnt take u long funky
def get your test, nothing sexier than a girlie on her own bike (my better half has her own)
pillions are a pain in the arse, they take a way the fun
(bike manufacturers make the pillion seat small and uncomfortable for a reason - so it doesn't get used)
if u like the sports bikes then i would say a zx 636 like kelly (dynasangel) damn cool bike that is.
btw welcome to the site

erm, dunno about "doin yer teat"
but to do your test, if you're gonna get a 125 go for a trailie rather than a sports bike - something like a varadero/KDX, etc., as manouverability is more important than a hunch-back pose and trying to look under your armpits to see behind
if you really want a sporty styled thing, then the CBR125's seem to be the bike of choice
Welcome, by the way

Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....
Handle stressful situations like a dog - If you can't eat it or play with it, pee on it and walk away

Thats what everyone seems to say, but i really enjoy going pillion (although i guess ive got nothing to compare to) Also, my partner doesnt mind at all me being on the bike and says as far as pillion go im the best he's had(i.e cornering etc-he cant feel me) so it makes no difference to him if im on the back or not. Im sure i will do my test eventually but im just scared of being in control of the bike rather than just sat on the back being able to enjoy the ride without having to concentrate or worry.Im probably just being a wuss!!!

You really won't regret doing your test. All I can say is try out lots of stuff, do that 'sitting on bikes in bike shops' thing to see what you find comfy (5ft11"- could feel a little cramped on some stuff?), and don't feel pressured into having something to look good on for your first bike. Once you have your license, got some road experience etc you've all the time in the world to have whatever bike you like!
btw, I was a pillion albeit a l while ago, did my test and got my own bike - absolutely lovin' it! Had to be pillion recently and HATED IT! just my 2p - good luck with whatever you decide
