Dropped it !!!

Post by joeyd »

Not at 120mph........not even 12mph..........exactly 0mph

Just spent 3 hours trying to get some Shad Panniers and rack to fit alongside a Givi Topbox and rack. After much cursing i finaly managed it. Was parked on my Driveway (uphill) on the centre stand. Tried to take it off centre stand from the side (if you know what i mean) and it started to fall away from me in slow motion. Trying to stop 230 kgs of metal hitting the floor with a crash was hard work. Anyway, it hits the floor with a bang and I just stood there thinking ........scratched exhaust, cracked / scatched fairing, broken levers etc £££sss :( After much cursing I managed to pick the thing up and inspected the damage...................1 small scratch on the front indicator lense and thats it. The Shad Pannier had taken the brunt of the impact and kept most of the rest of the bike off the floor. Just a couple of scuffs on the bottom of the pannier :D

Side stand for me in future

Definitely a bit on the lucky side :D The worst bit was it seemed to take ages to fall over, and i was counting the cost of the damage as it was happening  The Panniers were Brand new and nice and cheap off ebay, I think they just paid for themselves

Live and learn tho. It was heavy picking it up but would have been a damn site easier if i had thought to put the bike in gear before trying to. Instead I was picking it up and trying to hold the brake lever to stop it rolling back down the slope
