Summer idiots

Post by Blimey »

Before i start this is not a dig at anyone on the site but if you want to dissagree with what i am saying then feel free.

I can gurantee one person who will but i will keep quiet.

Last weeks sunny days. Gorgeous, Boiling hot, Dry roads, Sticky rubber tyres and loads of NAKED SKIN

What on earth is going on ??

I was going to post this over the weekend but forgot

I cannot believe the amount of people i have seen wearing just T-Shirt, Shorts, Trainers and helmet.

Yes i am talking about whilst riding a motorbike.

Did get a bit annoyed and approached a scooter rider ( was the smallest person i could find  ) And said where are your gloves mate ?

In my Pocket !!

Why don't you bother wearing them ??

Its too hot !!

Ok, so when you fall, whats the first thing that you put down when you fall ??

I don't know !!

See it all the time.
Followed a gsxr 750 for a bit from college wearing shorts flip flops and shirt.
Minimum I go out in is jacket gloves lid. Just imagine the gravel rash coming off even at 30. Still got mine nearly a month on and its only a little bit, but it hurts like hell.

Its terrible around torquay, too many chavs and pretty boys just out for the look. I had a go at sophie's little brother a couple weekends ago for wearing 3/4 lengths

If they're stupid enough to ride in gear like that then they deserve the gravel rash. Wont get any sympathy from me, but I'm not going to tell anyone not to do it.

thats the problem with summer it brings out all the gear nazis  wear what the hell you want. :)

all that matters is keeping your bike vertical.

its always worth going out in just a tshirt occasionally, I rode down to GT's the other day to meet a couple of people and I purposely went down in just a tshirt because the looks of contempt you get from the self righteous always makes me smile.

hell I have ridden to the beach in croatia in just a pair of swimming shorts and a Tshirt, and the local populace drive like nuts over there. we are gear obssessed the europeans dont have such a fixation with it. I prefer their way of looking at things. Your risk your choice. I wear full leathers some of the time but sometimes I choose not to.

Each to their own I guess ... I'd rather not find out how painful gravel rash is ... and having seen injuries with/without the "right" gear I choose to wear leathers most of the time ... often jeans though.

I did see one that made me think "idiot" last week .... lid, leather jacket, proper gloves ... then shorts and sandals on the bottom ... huh?

Then on Saturday ... I'm doing 50ish coming up to a roundabout on a fast bit of road (up country) ... turning left ... 100yds before the roundabout a bike cuts in in front of me and turns left too and then zooms off into the distance. Didn't notice what bike ... just the fact the guy was in t-shirt, jeans and trainers .... JUST those .... NO LID!!!!!!! I was utterly gob-smacked. Apart from anything else he had hardly any hair ... must've had awful sunburn   Makes you wonder whether he forgot? or nicked it? or just didn't give a monkeys.
my mind not only wanders ... sometimes it leaves completely

Well after seeing first hand the state of my ex-wifes leg after her brother hit a deer when they were both out on his bike its pretty much leathers for me on my legs most of the time(apart from the odd jaunt down the shops), she had a cracking set of legs but now has to cover them up all year round as they are horribly scarred from not just the gravel rash but also the scrubbing they gave them at the hospital to get all the gravel out. Freedom of choice is what its all about but that won't give you any sense of satisfaction when that Nurse is approaching you in hospital with a hard nylon brush to scrub your freshly shredded flesh, take it easy :)

A good name for them I picked up on a US forum a couple of years ago - Skin Crayons
Anyone dim enough to ride like that has obviously never come off before and doesn't know how much it hurts - if someone on here replies that they do it and have come off before  can I be first with the iodine next time please?
