internet browser keeps closing

when im looking on the net i keep getting a pop up saying something like windows explorer needs to close sorry for any inconvenience etc then it closes anything im looking at, as you can imagine this is quite annoying!
i use a bt home hub and its only started doing it recently,anybody else had the same problem and how did you fix it?

first thing to check, done a spyware scan?

Also use firefox, not IE

Do you use a popup blocker, if not it may be this, which basically a bug in IE that causes it to close when two pop ups try to open at the same time, it tells about it here and the fix:

Or i got this from a Geek forum

1> START > CONTROL PANEL - Ensure that you are in Classic Mode
2> Double click on INTERNET OPTIONS
3> Select the ADVANCED tab
4> Under BROWSING, remove the check from ENABLE THIRD PARTY BROWSER EXTENSIONS
5> Click on APPLY, then OK
6> Reboot your computer

Thats after following Tom's advice and doing a spyware scan, there are loads of free scanners out there

And last but not least any problem that has just started can sometimes be sorted by doing a system restore to a time before the problem started. hope these all help
