I'll be off for some more randomness in September, would do August but doing the family holiday thingy with the children and gf then, plus am of to the states for december and I've found a triumph dealer in miami who'll hire me a bike for the duration

Miami huh? Sounds fantastic!

I'm hoping to do some of the more 'curvy' roads around Clermont Ferrand, and then nearer the Alps if time allows. Done France a few times now and quite happy to spuddle about wherever the mood takes us...

I love touring, and esp in Europe - bikes over there don't get grief, in fact many places welcome you! I find the french are incredibly warm if you can muster even the slightest bit of 'bonjour' 'merci' etc people will help you no end.

Know what you mean, if you activley try then they really do all they can to help

As for Miami, my family are Italian American and as such I always try to get over twice a year, am making the most my uncle giving me his house in Ft Lauderdale in December, he's buggering off to Oz for his 60th b'day, so it'll blue skies and plenty o freefall over christmas for me

I do travel a lot, used to do it for work but it's all holidays now plus I go to slightly more friendly countries as the children are getting older, used to work in the oil industry and that stuff is never in the nice areas

Travel rocks, so much to see so little time, oh and the left knee went down for the first time today!!!!!
