** Top 5 Bikes **

Post by Bladerunner »

Following on from the success of the top 5 manufacturers thread, I thought we could do a top 5 bikes

Imagine you can only choose 5 road bikes for your dream garage and no more, what would they be? Mine are as follows:

1: Ducati Desmosedici - Do I need to say why?
2: Yamaha R1 SP - I just love it
3: Bimota V-Due - 500cc two stroke lunacy, when the bloody things runs....
4: Norton Nemesis - 2 litre V8 sports bike anyone?
5: Honda RVF 750 RC45 - Classic racing vintage, and it's beautiful

I would like to add at this juncture that the above selection is purely my own personal choice, and that I realise many of you will disagree with me, and possibly take the pi$$ out of my choices, and that's FINE, just make your own list. However, please DON'T have a tantrum, call me a homo and leave this site...........

Enjoy

Now obviously this is the defenitive list and I am not after opinions I am telling you what the top 5 best bikes to have in your garage would be...

1. 1964 Rudge Necrophile (not the standard road model - the twin flange sprocket version that won the famous St.ives "lap the village" sprint race 2 years in a row in the mid 60's)

2. The black window. I would like the chance to be able to refer to myself in the third person. I could make a grand entrance at bike meets grandly proclaiming that "Jason licks the black window"...hold on, no I mean "jason rides the black window"

3. R1 - you have to have a sportsbike in your collection, so lets buy the prettiest one - hairdressers world wide know a good bike when they see one, and its good to be in touch with your feminine side so why not camp it up with the Mx5 of the bike world.

4. Honda Fireplace - Sometimes life can be to hectic so the dullest sportsbike ever made is the perfect opposite to the Gay flamboyance of your R1. How can someone not own one of these and marvel at how dull honda have managed to make a sportsbike feel. Slow, big, heavy and turns in like an oil tanker the perfect bike for those lazy days. an upmarket CB250 superdream for the man who knows his bikes.

5. Hardley Ableson night shaft - all the joys and prestige of a Hardley with having to take shares out in Autosol. Buy one wheel it out twice a year on a sunny weekend and pretend to be a real biker. For when the John inman campness of the R1 is just not enough, get on the village people gay biker gear and show everyone one your night shaft.
