Rockingham International 13th sep pics and vids

Post by dayz »

got back from my first trackday on the weekend. what a blast! jumped straight into the inters to keep one of my dads mates company (hes the odd one out on a 600, the other 2 go in fast group on their thous) first 2 morning sessions were damp, so was a new experience going out on low pressures hehe

ill link a couple pics from the pro photographer they have at every event, got to buy em to get rid of watermark  so ill link the thumbnails, watermarked full sized versions of every bike at the day are at http://www.trackdaydigitalimages.com :)

for the last session of the day, dad and his mate demoted themselves to inters cus he has front and rear mounted cameras so wanted some group action (should be able to post the youbtube vid when he uploads it)

great pics.

Rockingham is such a great track.

have you done the national version? which version do you prefer?

I know its shorter than the international but I think the national flows better, the bits that connect the oval to the infield on the international kind of break up the flow of the track I reckon.

i havent done the national no. the rest of the group had tho and most of them thought the international was more challenging/physical as there was a bit more hard stopping and going plus fast corners that required a bit of muscle. i must say the 2 parts of the track that were my favourite (well 3) were the 3 not included in the national circuit, ie. the slow chicane at the end of the "start finish straight", then the fast chicane which u cut across all the rumbles at like 110 half way round the oval, and the wide hairpin at the end of the oval. so id be inclined to say id enjoy the international more...whos to say tho :)

oulton park next on nov 1st, anyone else going?

BP were hiring the circuit for a corporate event and didn’t want Texaco signs all over the place. So went up to survey for temporary refit.

As no one new what was needed for the totem they suggested that we inspected close-up so signs could be prefabricated and all fitted in one visit just before the event.

The Cherry Picker was the biggest in county (on loan from Germany). 48m fully extended which we needed as we had to reach from the road.

Only problem it cost £650 per day or part of, even though we only used it for 30mins. They decided to leave the totem Texaco signs as they were rather than hire the Cherry Picker twice more.
